  • troy loether: lead Pastor

    Married to: Stephanie

    Dad to: Tiara, Tianna, Chloe, Isaac, and Ephraim

    Both Troy and his wife Stephanie came to know Jesus Christ while in the context of authentic, relational discipleship groups and both have a passion for the transformation that can take place in these environments. Troy’s favorite pastime is spending time with other people, especially Stephanie and their five children. Troy enjoys being active and playing just about any sport. Troy and Stephanie care deeply for the people of our community, love raising their kids here and are blessed to see all that God is doing in the community. Whether in his past career in the marketplace, in his neighborhood, playing basketball with friends, or as pastor, in all areas of Troy’s life, he seeks to point people to Jesus as the perfect image of our loving Father. 

  • Ryan LaTour

    pastor (jackson site) & of MISSIONAL LIVING

    Dad to: Myah and Ben

    Ryan is passionate about helping people become Christ-followers who help others follow Christ, seeking to reflect the goodness of Jesus in all of life: work, marriage, parenting, relationships, finances and more. He does this through a missional community family where they share in each other’s lives, encourage one another and serve together. Ryan likes coaching sports, hunting, walks with his bride and time with friends. An outflow of following Jesus leads Ryan to live with great intentionality with his relationships where he seeks to model a life where others see Jesus’ good news.

    Steve’s favorite thing is hanging out and meeting people! He loves to listen to and to learn people's stories, seeing God’s evident love and pursuit woven into each story. Since people matter so much to Jesus, people matter to Steve. Another great love of Steve’s at Kettlebrook is being “Grandpa Steve” to many of the kids. He loves telling them Bible stories and watching their eyes get wide with “what will happen next?” Steve and wife Martha spent nearly 20 years in ministry in Central Europe because they both love learning about and being with people from other cultures. And we can't leave out prayer... Steve would love to pray with you and for you.

    Pastor of family & Children's ministry

    Grandma to: Oliver, Kali and Jane

    Kim’s love for Christ and passion for helping children to know Him is evident in many aspects of her life. Whether it be her own kids and grandbaby, the kids in her Missional Community family, the Kettlebrook children’s ministry kids or in serving the local foster care system, sharing Jesus in these relationships is her greatest desire. Just as God has given her hope through Jesus, she wants others to know that hope as well. Most recently, God has led her to learn about, and minister to, kids and families dealing with trauma. She gives generously of her time and treasure in order to see the Kingdom of God come locally and globally.  

  • bridget pfeil: Director of Children's Ministry

    Married to: Curt (1994)

    Mom to: CJ, Mitch and Marissa 

    Bridget began to grow in her understanding of God through MOPS (Mothers of PreSchoolers). Just as other women came alongside her to give her insight about her identity as a woman, as a wife and a mother, Bridget seeks to come alongside others in authentic relationships where people can be real about life circumstances, struggles and questions about faith. Whether it be a Sunday morning children’s ministry group, a discipleship group or other relationship, Bridget desires for others to grow in their faith in order for them to experience the true peace of God.    

  • david syzdek:  Pastor of Youth ministry

    Married to: Sally (2018)

    Dad to: Oliver, kali and jane

    David loves to be outdoors camping, kayaking, rock climbing, hiking, and being involved in others' lives, but most of all he has a desire to make Jesus known! His servant-leadership empowers others to grow in their faith and use their gifts and passions to then love and serve others. As someone who experienced others investing in him, he loves to connect with youth, whether it be through music worship bands, a small group, developing them as leaders, at camp… just doing life with them. David started in a career in firefighting before God led him to full-time youth ministry.

  • Trent Halvorsen - ignite ministry director

    Trent was born in Illinois where his dad was a youth pastor. With great leadership from his mom and dad, Trent learned to follow Christ and Chicago sports at a very young age. Since then, Trent and his family moved to Wisconsin where his mom and dad became the directors at a local Christian camp. It was through living at camp that Trent discovered his true heart and passion for serving others and sharing the gospel message with all!  Throughout his middle and high school career, Trent has been able to express his passion at our Torch and Ignite programs. Whether it was playing on the worship team or being a small group leader, Trent loves to serve others. Trent also serves his community in many ways, including being a volunteer firefighter. Lastly, some of Trent's favorite pastimes are fishing, carpentry, playing baseball, and spending time with friends and family!

  • amy gaffney: Youth ministry assistant

    Amy has served as a youth group leader since 2018. She has loved the program and everything it offers the students as well as the families. In 2024 she became the Youth Ministry Assistant. In this role she works with David and Trent to coordinate events and keep families and students up to date with the ministry. Amy loves connecting with the students and really enjoys watching them grow in their relationship and love for Jesus. 


    Amy has been married to her husband Casey  since July 2004. They have three children Finley, Cole, and Norah.  Amy’s family has also been involved in youth ministry and it has been a huge part of their life since 2018. She and her family have been blessed by the relationships that have come out of being a part of this community.


  • Katherine tobey: Director of REACH local

    Married to: Nate (2002)

    Mom to: Madelynn and Caleb

    Katherine is all about loving others in her neighborhood, missional community, at the Seed of Hope Center and at Kettlebrook, where she serves as the Director of REACH Local and volunteers on a regular basis weekly! She grew up in the church and continues to grow in her faith, be changed through the power of the Good News of Jesus and seeks to serve God by loving others. She and her family love to be active, outdoors, and spend time with others. 

  • Kara: Director of REACH Global

    Married to: Mike (1994)

    As a young adult, Kara heard the Good News of Jesus and was inspired deeply by the love of God the Father for her as well as for all people in the world. Following God’s heart for the world, she has sought to live her life, whether locally or oversees, alongside others. Whether over a cup of coffee, on a walk or a long bike ride, as a cross country coach or mentor, Kara’s life is an open book and an example of how the Holy Spirit changes people amidst the ups and downs of life. She will always point others to Jesus as the hope and light for this world as well as the heart of God in human form. Helping others know the Father through Jesus is central to everything she does!

  • Jen ellefson: director of missional training

    Jen and her husband Mark, along with their two girls Ava and Grace, were one of our Global Mission Partners working in Burundi, Africa. They moved to West Bend in 2024 to start their non-profit, Partners International, which helps resource and train local Indigenous mission leaders across the developing world. 

    Jen grew up in the UK and followed God's call to mission by joining an inner-city church planting team.  She spent six years on staff at St Thomas’ Church in Sheffield, UK, overseeing young adult discipleship, leadership development, and urban outreach programs, before moving to South Africa.

    She lived in South Africa for 5 years as part of a church planting team in a local township. After which, she returned to the UK to complete her Master of Arts in Missiology and Development Studies from All Nations Christian College, UK.

    Jen is passionate about training and developing missional leaders. She helped to launch a Mission Training School in Burundi to equip local Burundian leaders in mission. She loves to come alongside people to help them discover God's call upon their life. 

    She loves the outdoors, reading and English tea!

  • Christian novales: director of music worship

    married to: Melissa (2013)

    Dad to: ronan, cole, and dario

    Christian grew up in West Bend, WI.  Son to first generation immigrants from the Philippines, he was taught from an early age the love of Jesus.  His mother was a piano teacher and Christian began classical training in piano at the age of four.  She also modeled how to use your talents to serve the Lord as she led worship and directed choirs. After the death of his mother, his life did not resemble the life of a Christian. God began to put people in his life that would slowly begin to bring Christian back to Him, beginning with his wife, Melissa.  Christian began to realize that Jesus and the good news of the Gospel was what was missing in his life and dedicated his life back to the Lord, culminating in his baptism in 2020.  Along with his love for Jesus, he also rediscovered his passion for music worship and discipling others through song.  In his free time, Christian enjoys spending time with his three sons, Ronan, Cole & Dario, discipling youth involved in Torch, and playing basketball.  

  • nate tobey: Director of Administration and Gospel Advancement

    Nate Tobey serves as our Director of Administration and Gospel Advancement. After 25 years as a retail executive, Nate felt called by God to leave the corporate world and use his leadership and financial experience to serve the church. He is passionate about personal discipleship and excited to help our ministry grow through thoughtful planning and strategic support. Humbled by this opportunity, his desire is that through wise stewardship and strategic planning, the Gospel of Jesus would reach more people in our community.

    Nate and his wife Katherine lead a small group and love investing in relationships. They have two children, Madelynn (17) and Caleb (12), who are active in Torch and Ignite youth ministries. Nate has a heart for mentoring men and loves seeing lives transformed by Jesus.

    In addition to his role on staff, Nate serves as an elder and on the board of Reflejo, Inc., a mission agency focused on reaching the unreached. He holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

  • Renee o'leske - bookkeeper

    When Renee was a young girl, she realized her need for a Savior and put her faith in Jesus Christ.  As a follower of Christ, she desires to reflect Jesus in every aspect of her life – as a wife, mother, sister, daughter, friend, and employee.  In her free time, Renee enjoys spending time with her family and friends (particularly over a cup of coffee), cross country skiing, and biking.

  • Kristi Diffor: Director of Creative Design

    Married to: Greg (1992)

    Mom to: Tyson, Evan, Keaton and Nolan

    Kristi’s faith in God began as a young teen who understood that she needed to not only be saved from her sin, but needed the Spirit of God to lead her, change her heart and give her purpose. She desires to help others grow in faith and understand of God’s unfailing love. Hearing other people’s stories over tea is one of her greatest joys. Her other joys include spending time with family and friends, playing board games, hosting people at their home, and riding a horse through the woods.

  • becky wood: Administrative Assistant & Creative Design Assistant

    Becky and her husband Tyler, along with their girls Rachel, Abby, and Emma love being a part of the Kettlebrook family.  Over the years they have been blessed to be involved in small groups, Children’s Ministry, Youth Ministry, and MomCo.  One of their favorite things to do as a family is travelling, especially on road trips to National Parks, enjoying the incredible beauty and diversity of God’s creation.  


    Becky enjoys serving Kettlebrook in the details and finding ways to be creative and organized.  She also loves serving our international partners by being a part of the REACH Global Team, and highly recommends taking the Perspectives class to more deeply understand God’s heart for the world.

  • mike: pastor emeritus  

    Married to: Kara (1994)

    Mike graduated from UW-Madison with a degree in business management and marketing. He worked in the business world several years before moving to Siberia for eight years. In 2005, Mike and his family moved back to the area and helped launch Kettlebrook. God’s love for all people, especially those who have never heard about Jesus, is central to all Mike does. Whether biking or drinking a beer with others, traveling, going to the Y or simply being a support to someone hurting, Mike’s desire is to point them to Jesus

  • dan johnstone, elder chair

    Dan Johnstone is married to Denise and they have three children: Norah, Isaac, and Ezra.  Although Dan grew up knowing the Lord as his Savior, it wasn’t until adulthood that he really began to understand the ferocious love of God.  After God’s Salvation, Dan’s greatest blessing is his wife, Denise, and his three amazing children.  Dan is a math interventionist and math coach in the School District of Menomonee Falls, and feels called to invest in kids and build relationships with them.  Dan loves building relationships with others, and seeing others engage in their relationship with the Lord.  Through all areas of his life, Dan seeks to love the Lord, make disciples, love others, and follow Him in the deepest part of his heart.

  • chuck dricken

    Chuck and his wife Amy strive to humbly serve God and reflect Jesus in how they lead their family, serve the church, and engage with the community. Chuck grew up in a Christian home knowing about Jesus and has significantly matured his faith through engagement with mentors and small groups. This has resulted in an ever-growing passion and interest in helping to disciple and encourage others toward a deeper relationship with Jesus. Chuck works as a leader in product development at Harley-Davidson and has a mechanical engineering background. He seeks opportunities in all areas of his life to utilize his story, experience, and gifting in service of his Lord Jesus Christ. 

  • Joe Emery

    Both Joe and Tammie were raised by families and in homes that love Jesus. The real strengthening and maturing of their faith, however,  came through their marriage, raising a family and fostering other children.  They have encountered many challenges over their 24 years of marriage, including health, financial, and in relationships, but God has proven again and again that He is sovereign in all the affairs of man. Joe loves spending time sailing on the open waters of Lake Michigan, watching every event his kids are involved in, and studying the "light reading" material on Revelation and eschatology. He is involved in our youth ministry and teaching at Kettlebrook. He also runs a small business servicing dryer vents. Tammie loves continuing to spend time with the kids they have fostered and mentoring their moms over the years. She enjoys working out and is still working on getting Joe to join in.  Both are passionate about Jesus and helping others see that God is sovereign and is intimately involved even when times are challenging. It is their every-day intent that their marriage would reflect the love they have for Jesus and that their children will grow to love and serve Him eternally.

  • Steve Farina

    Steve and Martha Farina have lived in West Bend since 2013 and have attended Kettlebrook Church since 2015. Steve serves as the pastor of Connections and Care at Kettlebrook. Martha is a telephone sales representative for Increase Manufacturing of Fort Atkinson, WI. In a past life, the Farinas served for 20 years as cross-cultural missionaries in Central Europe.

    Married for 38 years, Steve and Martha have 4 children, 3 sons-in-law, and 6 grandchildren. Their son Anthony is a stable hand who lives at home.

    Steve loves serving on several teams at Kettlebrook, but especially with a quality group of men on the Elder Team. Martha passionately prays and loves to mentor and teach fellow pray-ers.

  • eric kroner

    Eric Kroner is married to Mollie, and they have three children: Quincy, Emmett, and Nicholas. Their family has been serving cross-culturally in Chad, Africa since 2011.Through the power and love of Christ, Eric overcame the generational sin of alcoholism in college and out of a repentant heart he began following Jesus again. He then met Mollie and they began the adventure of following Jesus together through Eric’s years of medical school, pediatric residency, and fellowship. During those same years, they learned about loving community, the Father’s missional and pursuing heart for all people, and an increasing small-step willingness to serve the Father wherever He called. Eric and Mollie have grown close to the Kettlebrook family through their years on home assignment in West Bend and are grateful to have this opportunity to serve this community that has loved, supported, partnered, and encouraged them for so many years.

  • nate tobey

    Nate Tobey is married to Katherine and they have two children: Madelynn and Caleb.  Nate was born in Alaska and raised in a Christian home. This upbringing gave Nate a love of adventure, the outdoors, and the grandeur of God. Professionally, Nate has spent the last 22 years moving around the country as a retail executive. Nate is a people leader and is currently a divisional leader at a large retailer. He and his wife have been devoted to leading small groups. Nate loves to focus on discipling men into a closer relationship with Jesus. After having his worldview significantly changed from the Perspectives class, Nate enjoys encouraging other people to see God’s heart for the world. In his spare time, you will find Nate fly fishing or drinking coffee.

  • tyler wood

    Tyler Wood is married to his wife, Becky, and they have three children: Rachel, Abby, and Emma. Born and raised in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, Tyler grew up in a Christian home where he came to know and follow Jesus from an early age. Tyler and Becky moved to West Bend and began attending Kettlebrook Church in 2010.  Tyler serves as an administrator at Badger Middle School and feels called to use his gifts in leadership to honor Christ both at work and within the Kettlebrook family. Tyler is actively involved in a men’s group, and also serves on the Reach Global team; supporting Kettlebrook partners who serve in areas of the world where the name of Jesus is not known. He loves encouraging others, and strives to trust in God’s plan in all areas of life. In his free time Tyler enjoys family adventures, road trips, or relaxing and watching a soccer game.
